Stars Fall To Perennial NACC Power

Box Score The Dominican University women's basketball team fell to perennial Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) powerhouse, the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors on Saturday evening, 72-45 in Milwaukee, Wis.

The Stars hung with the Warriors through much of the first half, trailing just 30-23 at the half before managing to shoot just 25-percent, 7-for-28, in the second half.

Freshman Alyssa Hernandez (Bartlett, Ill.) dropped in 16 points on 7-for-12 shooting from the field in the losing effort. Hernandez went 4-for-5 to score eight points in 11 minutes of action before the break. The 6-1 Hernandez then went 3-for-7 in the second half.

The Warriors forced 22 turnovers while limiting their own turnovers to just 12.

Melanie Laete paced Wisconsin Lutheran with 17 points on 8-for-11 shooting from the field. As a team, the Warriors converted on better than 44-percent of their attempts from the field (29-65).

The loss drops the Stars to 0-12 on the year. Dominican will be back on the court on Tuesday, hosting the Edgewood College Eagles for a 7:15 p.m. tipoff in the Igini Sports Forum.
