Box Score The Dominican University women's basketball team fell to perennial Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) powerhouse, the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors on Saturday evening, 72-45 in Milwaukee, Wis.
The Stars hung with the Warriors through much of the first half, trailing just 30-23 at the half before managing to shoot just 25-percent, 7-for-28, in the second half.
Freshman
Alyssa Hernandez (Bartlett, Ill.) dropped in 16 points on 7-for-12 shooting from the field in the losing effort. Hernandez went 4-for-5 to score eight points in 11 minutes of action before the break. The 6-1 Hernandez then went 3-for-7 in the second half.
The Warriors forced 22 turnovers while limiting their own turnovers to just 12.
Melanie Laete paced Wisconsin Lutheran with 17 points on 8-for-11 shooting from the field. As a team, the Warriors converted on better than 44-percent of their attempts from the field (29-65).
The loss drops the Stars to 0-12 on the year. Dominican will be back on the court on Tuesday, hosting the Edgewood College Eagles for a 7:15 p.m. tipoff in the Igini Sports Forum.
