The Dominican University men's soccer team scored early and often, tallying 11 goals in a shutout victory over the visiting Rockford University Regents in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) action on Wednesday afternoon in River Forest.

The Stars converted on three of four penalty kick attempts, the first by
Nestor Ascencio (Streamwood, Ill.) after the freshman was taken down in the Rockford penalty box in the 16
th minute. Ascensio finished the ensuing penalty kick for his third goal of the season, giving Dominican a 1-0 advantage.

Five minutes later, Dominican earned their second penalty and despite the initial save by the Regents' Kyle Adams,
Jonathan Arzeta (Des Plaines, Ill.) collected his own rebound and knocked in his first of two goals in the match.

In total eight players scored goals for Dominican with
Zach Venzon (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) netting three goals and a pair of assists in the winning effort.Â
Adam Yaghmour (Norridge, Ill.) and
Jose Becerra (Waukegan, Ill.) each scored their first collegiate goals with Yahgmour adding a pair of assists in just 19 minutes of action.

Zach Watson (Carol Stream, Ill.) and
Wesley Zank (Sun Prairie, Wis.) combined for the shutout, the fourth consecutive shutout posted by the Stars. The goalkeeping tandem faced just one shot while the Dominican offense peppered the Rockford goal with 40 shots, putting 22 on frame.

"It was nice to see the guys keep their focus," commented Erick Baumann when asked about his team's performance.

The Stars, now 9-4-2 on the season and 7-1-0 in the NACC, take a break from conference action to host the North Park University Vikings on Saturday at West Campus Field. Kickoff is slated for 2:30 p.m.
