The Dominican University women's volleyball season came to a close on Thursday evening in the first round of the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Kenosha Regional, falling to the host Carthage College Lady Reds in three sets (25-15, 25-15, 25-19). It was the third first round loss for the Stars in as many seasons and the fourth overall.
The top-seeded Lady Red held the Stars to just a .057 hitting percentage in the match with Dominican committing 21 errors while knocking down just 28 kills.
Maddi Zanoni (Hudsonville, Mich.) was the Stars top performer offensively, knocking down eight kills on just 22 swings while committing just one hitting error. Senior
Becca Fritz (Mt. Carroll, Ill.) added five kills on 17 attacks without committing an error.
Junior setter
Christina Wilson (Homer Glen, Ill.), the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Player of the Year, worked on her 22
nd double-double of the season, collecting 25 assists and ten digs.
The Stars end the year 24-12 under first-year head coach Jeanne Czipri, winning the NACC regular season and tournament championships and earning the program's fourth-ever bid to the NCAA Division III National Tournament.
