Box Score The Dominican University men's soccer team came into the 2014 season 11-2-1 in their last 14 season openers but came up on the wrong side of a 2-1 decision Friday afternoon at West Campus Field against the University of Chicago Maroons.

After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, the Maroons got on the board in the 50
th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Maroons' Kyle Kurfist was fouled about ten yards outside the 18 yard box, drawing a restart for Chicago. On the restart, Nick Codispoti's cross, sent towards the back post found its way into the back of the Stars' goal.

Dominican evened the score in the 69
th minute as a Chicago caution assessed to Kevin Matheny gave the Stars a restart out near midfield. On the set piece,
Frankie Saiz's (Naperville, Ill.) service found a pair of Dominican heads before finding the back of the goal. The goal was disallowed as Dominican's
Adam Yaghmour (Norridge, Ill.) was fouled on his header attempt in penalty area, awarding the Stars a penalty kick. Senior
Ryan Ybarra (Des Plaines, Ill.) buried the penalty attempt to even the score at 1-1.

Chicago reclaimed the lead in the 73
rd minute as Brad Bozych received a pass just inside the top of the 18-yard box, turning and sliding a pass towards the endline for Nic Lopez. Lopez was able slip in behind the Dominican defense, lifting a shot over the top of Dominican's
Gabriel Gongora (Naperville, Ill.) and just under the crossbar.

The Stars had two shots the rest of the way, failing to net the equalizer as
Logan Marvin's (Johnston, Iowa)Â shot was stopped by Chicago's Hill Bonin in the 78
th minute while Ybarra's shot in the 85
th minute was blocked before getting through to Bonin.

Chicago held a slight advantage in both shots and shots on goal, 11-10 and 5-4, while the Maroons gave the Stars' 17 restart opportunities on 17 fouls while Dominican committed just eight fouls.
