Box Score 2 The Dominican University women's volleyball team snapped a four-match losing skid with a 3-1 win over the College of Saint Scholastica Saints in the Stars' second match at the Pizza Hut Women's Volleyball Classic hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Earlier in the day the Stars fell to the College of Saint Benedict Blazers, 3-1.
In the loss to the Blazers, ranked 14
th in the latest AVCA Division III Top 25 poll, Caitlen Foote paced the Stars with 11 kills while hitting .205 but Dominican committed a total of 44 errors, including 21 hitting errors and ten serving errors, to allow the Blazers to win in four sets. The Stars, led by Cheyanne Kelly's 20 digs and Foote's 17, held the Blazers to an .095 hitting percentage and posted six total blocks.
The Stars were able to shake off the loss in the second match of the day as Christina Wilson dished out 46 assists in running balanced offensive attack that saw three Stars reach double-digit kills. Foote continued to shine, collecting 11 kills on 34 attacks while committing just two errors. The junior shared team-high honors with Maddi Zanoni who also tallied 11 kills while freshman Kendyl Todd posted ten kills on 20 swings.
Defensively, Zanoni tallied four total blocks (one solo, three assists) while Kelly patrolled the back row, collecting a team-high 16 digs.
Foote rounded out her second double-double effort of the day with 13 kills while Wilson narrowly missed a triple-double with ten digs and nine kills.
The Stars return to action in the Pizza Hut Classic on Saturday morning, taking on Ripon College at 10:00 a.m. before closing out the tournament with the host UW-Oshkosh Titans at 12:00 p.m.
