Stars Fall In Regular Season Finale

The Dominican University women's volleyball made their way up to UW-Whitewater on Saturday to take on the #8 Warhawks, closing out the season with a 3-1 (19-25, 25-20, 25-18, 25-22) loss at the hands of Whitewater.  Dominican, now 23-9 overall, will return to action on Thursday in the semifinals of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Tournament.

"We weren't able to capitalize on our strengths and they exposed our weaknesses," commented Jeanne Czipri following the Stars' loss.  "Our block needed to be more effective today but it was used against us more than it helped us.  We have a lot of work to do to get ready for next week."

Alex Kisten (Huntley, Ill.) knocked down a team-high 13 kills for the Stars in the losing effort while Maddi Zanoni (Hudsonville, Mich.) and Tessa Griparis (Belleair, Fla.) added 12 and 11 kills respectively and Christina Wilson (Homer Glen, Ill.) tallied 45 assists.

Defensively, Dominican was forced to collect 96 digs, led by Caitlen Foote (Dexter, Mich.) and Wilson who had 34 and 24 digs respectively.

On Thursday, Dominican will host the winner of the Aurora-Benedictine quarterfinal match that's scheduled for Tuesday night.  The match is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start in the Igini Sports Forum with the winner advancing to Saturday's NACC Championship match with a bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship on the line.
