The Dominican University men's basketball team got 19 points from
Josh Mayberry (Canton, Mich.) and 18 points from
Tim Robertson (Chicago, Ill.) but the Stars couldn't keep pace with the high-scoring Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons in a 99-79 loss to open Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play on the road Tuesday night.
Leading by nine with 4:30 to go in the first half, Concordia Wisconsin closed the opening half on a 16-5 run to open a 20-point, 51-31, lead at the break and distance themselves from the Stars.
The Falcons, led by James Mitchell's 16 points, shot better than 54-percent (31-for-57) from the field and connected on nine of their 19 attempts from beyond the three-point stripe.
Quinn Pokora (Mundelein, Ill.) added 13 points for the Stars as Dominican had three in double-figure scoring for the second time in as many games this year.
Dominican shot 42-percent from the field, 30-for-71, including going 5-for-22 from three-point range.
The Stars, now 0-2 on the season, return to action on Saturday, traveling to Galesburg, Illinois, to take on the Knox College Prairie Fire in non-conference play. Tipoff for the game is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
