The Dominican University women's basketball team could not slow down the unbeaten Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons, falling 75-52 on Saturday evening in the Igini Sports Forum.
"Concordia Wisconsin is always a well-prepared team," commented Dominican's head coach
Gabby Johnson, "and they came ready to play. We have to be better at facing challenges and overcoming droughts. Ultimately, turnovers and rebounds destroyed us today."
The Stars, led by
Shamia Clark's (Rock Island, Ill.) first double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds, shot just 16-for-54 from the field and committed 20 turnovers in the loss while the Falcons converted at a 31-for-65 clip from the field and turned the ball over just 12 times.
Claudia DeNigris (Addison, Ill.) added 13 points off the bench while
Allie Tapanes (Winfield, Ill.) finished with ten points to round out three players in double-figures for Dominican. The Stars'
Jasmyn Hardin (Cincinnati, Ohio), averaging a double-double of 12.2 points and 11.8 rebounds coming into Saturday, was limited to just six points and three rebounds in 20 minutes on Saturday.
For the Falcons, Shelby Otto came off the bench to score a team-high 13 points on 5-for-5 shooting from the field while Audrey Scharmer tallied a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
With the loss, the Stars fall to 1-6 on the season and 1-2 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC). The Stars return to the Igini Sports Forum on Tuesday, hosting the Alverno College Inferno for a 7:00 p.m. tipoff in conference action.
