The Dominican University men's volleyball team returned to Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) action on Wednesday evening, traveling to Kenosha, Wisconsin, to take on the seventh-ranked Carthage College Red Men. The Stars fell in three sets to the MCVL preseason favorites, 25-20, 26-24, 25-23.
Jeremy Royko (Naperville, Ill.) paced the Stars' with 14 kills on 26 attacks with just two hitting errors for a .462 hitting percentage. Royko added two total blocks, one solo, one assisted, for a match-high 15.5 points.
Alex Coyne (Naperville, Ill.) added four kills and dished out 24 assists as the Stars hit .237 for the match.
Defensively, Dominican posted 11.5 total blocks and collected 40 digs.
Mason Solbrig (Lindenhurst, Ill.) led the way at the net with six block assists while Coyne and
Brooks Nevrly (Downers Grove, Ill.) shared team-high honors with eight digs apiece.
The Red Men recorded a .257 attack percentage led by Scotty Adamczyk who knocked down a team-high 13 kills while Jon Storm added 12 kills of his own.
The loss drops the Stars to 5-5 overall and 5-1 in the MCVL. Dominican will host the Lakeland College Muskies and MIT Engineers for a tri-match on Saturday. The Stars' MCVL contest with the Muskies tips off the action at 11am. Dominican later takes on the Engineers in a non-conference tilt at 3pm.
