The Dominican University men's basketball team shot better than fifty-percent from the field but turned the ball over 21 times in a 80-72 loss to the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons on Saturday evening in the Igini Sports Forum.
Â
Freshman
Tim Robertson (Chicago, Ill.) paced the Stars with 20 points on 8-of-15 shooting in the losing effort.Â
Rich Bodee (Darien, Ill.) scored 18 points in 24 minutes off the bench while
Anoribe Nwannewuihe (Chicago, Ill.) posted the game's only double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, along with a Dominican University single-game record seven blocks in 25 minutes.
Â
Dominican held an early 10-2 lead before the Falcons went on a 29-8 run that spanned 13 minutes and opened a 13-point, 31-18, lead for Concordia Wisconsin with 4:34 to play in the opening half.
Â
Concordia Wisconsin carried a 38-26 lead into the break and led by as many as 21 during the first four minutes of the second half before Dominican mounted a comeback.
Â
The Stars chipped away at the Falcons' lead, eventually pulling to within seven, 76-69, on Bodee's tip-in with 1:20 remaining but the comeback stalled as the Falcons turned two Dominican turnovers into a pair of transition baskets to finish off the Stars.
Â
Brett Boettcher and Bradley Prinsen led the Falcons with 14 points apiece. Boettcher added eight rebounds and five assists in 35 minutes.
Â
With the loss, Dominican falls to 2-20 on the season and 2-15 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC). The Stars return to action on Tuesday evening, traveling to Lisle, Illinois, to take on the Benedictine University Eagles. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
