The Dominican University baseball team dropped a 14-2 game to the Mitchell College Mariners on Tuesday morning, surrendering ten earned runs on ten hits and issuing 12 walks to the Mariners while hitting another three batters.

At the plate, Dominican managed eight hits off of two different Mitchell pitchers, could not push across any runs until the top of the seventh, striking out nine times on the game.

The game was scoreless in the top of the third when the Mariners broke it open with a six-run inning, taking advantage of five walks, two hit-by-pitches and two Dominican errors. The lone hit for the Mariners in the inning, was an infield single with the bases loaded.

Mitchell then tacked on three more runs in each the fourth and fifth innings before capping their offensive performance with two runs in the sixth.

Dominican finally managed to break through in the top of the seventh when
Lucas McKinney (Arvada, Colo.) lined a single to left, scoring
Dominick Romito (Bloomingdale, III.) and
Dillon Dell'Aquila (Huntley, III.) who both reached when they were hit by pitches.

The loss drops the Stars to 1-4 on the year with Emerson College next on the Stars' schedule. The game is slated for a 3:00 p.m. EST first pitch on Thursday. Â
