Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Stars Drop Two To Top Ten Foes

The Dominican University women's volleyball team returned to Kenosha, Wisconsin, on Saturday dropping a pair of three set matches to the #5 UW-Stevens Point Pointers (25-16, 25-23, 26-24) and the #8 Carthage College Lady Reds (25-19, 25-19, 25-17) to fall to 8-4 on the season.

"There were a lot of positives today," commented Jeanne Czipri, the Stars' head coach in her second season.  "When we take care of our side of the net, we are right there in these matches and are a high caliber team…when we don't, we can't compete well enough."

In the morning match against the Pointers, the Stars managed to hit at just a .105 clip, committing 25 errors to 39 kills on 133 total attempts.  Kendyl Todd (Crete, Ill.) was outstanding in the loss, knocking down 12 kills on just 16 total attacks while committing just two errors.  Alex Kisten (Huntley, Ill.) added eight kills while setter Christina Wilson (Homer Glen, Ill.) dished out 31 assists.

Defensively, Caitlen Foote (Dexter, Mich.) led the Stars effort that limited the Pointers to a .145 attack percentage.  Foote collected a match-high 17 digs while Wilson rounded out a double-double performance with 13 digs.

In the loss to the host Lady Reds, Dominican committed 24 attack errors, hitting just .056 with 31 kills on 124 attempts.  Todd again paced the offense with a team-high ten kills, hitting .318 for the match, while Wilson collected 25 assists.

Riding a season-long three-match losing streak, Dominican's road does not get any lighter, hosting a pair of top 25 opponents on Wednesday for a tri-match.  The Stars will battle the #13 University of Chicago Maroons at 4pm and then the #14 Elmhurst College Bluejays at 8pm.
