The Dominican University women's basketball team was topped by the Lakeland College Muskies, 87-54, in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) action on Saturday evening in the Igini Sports Forum.
The Stars committed 27 turnovers, leading to 29 points for the Muskies, and managed to shoot just 35-percent from the field in the loss.
Jasmyn Hardin (Cincinnati, Ohio) and
Claudia DeNigris (Addison, Ill.) paced the Stars with 13 and 12 points respectively while
Rhetta Bates (Woodstock, Ill.) and
Koraima Marroquin (Chicago, Ill.) chipped in nine apiece for Dominican.
For the Muskies, Bailey Grayvold led four in double figures with 13 points, converting on all six of her attempts at the foul line.
"We allowed Lakeland to take us away from our game plan and our style of play," said Stars' head coach
Gabby Johnson. "We have to become a more disciplined basketball team."
The loss drops Dominican to 2-11 overall and 1-7 in the NACC. The Stars will be back in action on Wednesday, traveling to Aurora University to take on the Spartans at 7:00 p.m.
