The Dominican University men's soccer team ran its winning streak to five matches and consecutive shutout minutes to over 536 with a 1-0 shutout victory at Marian University on Saturday afternoon.

"We were sloppy today on a very sloppy field," commented Erick Baumann, the Stars' head coach in his 22
nd season, "but we shut them out and scored a nice goal. This is one of those games that makes you look forward to getting back on the field again. I'm looking forward to our home game tomorrow afternoon."

The Stars held a 9-6 advantage in shots over the Sabres, putting three shots on frame including sophomore
Benji Ibarra's header in the 38
th minute that stood as the game-winner.

Senior goalkeeper Gabriel Gongora logged the shutout, making one save to lower his Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference-best goals against average to 0.73 with five shutouts.

The Stars, now 5-2-2 overall and an unblemished 4-0-0 in league play, take a break from NACC action on Sunday, hosting the Illinois College Blueboys for a non-conference tilt at West Campus Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. as part of a doubleheader with the Dominican University women's soccer team.
