The Dominican University women's basketball team could not keep pace with the Aurora University Spartans on Wednesday night, falling 62-38 in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) action.

The Stars trailed by just five, 23-18, when
Claudia DeNigris (Addison, Ill.) drilled a three-pointer with 4:12 to go in the first half but the Spartans closed the second quarter on an 11-0 run to take a 34-18 lead at the break and continued to build on that lead throughout the second half.

Dominican was held to just 30-percent shooting from the field, paced by DeNigris who finished with a team-high 15 points on 6-for-15 shooting, connecting on three of her ten attempts from three-point distance.Â
Jasmyn Hardin (Cincinnati, Ohio) added ten points and narrowly missed a double-double, pulling down eight rebounds.

The Spartans placed four in double figures, including Bethany Dorrington who scored a team-high 15 points on 6-for-11 shooting and pulled down a game-high ten rebounds.

The Stars, now 3-19 overall and 2-15 in league play, return to the Igini Sports Forum on Saturday, hosting the MSOE Raiders for a 4:15 p.m. tipoff.
