The Dominican University men's basketball team came up short on Wednesday night, falling to the Concordia University Chicago Cougars 90-85 at the Cougars' Geiseman Gymnasium. The Stars'
Josh Mayberry (Canton, Mich.) scored a game-high 25 points while
Tim Robertson (Chicago, Ill.) added 19 in the losing effort.
After shooting 60 percent, 18-for-30, in the first half, the Stars cooled off, connecting at just a 33 percent clip over the final 20 minutes while the Cougars heated up in the second half, converting on 12 of 21 shooting from the field, including three of six from three.
Kevin Mack (Detroit, Mich.) rounded out three scorers in double figures for Dominican, scoring ten points while shooting 4-for-6 from the foul line. Freshmen
Isaac Moore (Chicago, Ill.) and
Antonio Amoah (Chicago, Ill.) added eight points apiece with Amoah adding a game-high ten rebounds.
For the Cougars, Mike Walmer led five in double figures with 21 points, going 10-for-12 at the foul line. Adam Castro added 17 points while DeAires Blackwell chipped in 13.
The loss drops the Stars to 5-19 on the season and 3-16 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) with their final game of the season set for Saturday at Wisconsin Lutheran. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in Milwaukee.
