The Dominican University men's volleyball team picked up their fifth straight win on Saturday afternoon in the Igini Sports Forum, knocking off the Greenville Panthers in four sets (25-18, 21-25, 25-19, 25-23) to tie the program's all-time mark for consecutive wins and move to 8-2 on the season and 4-1 in the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL).

The Stars, behind setter
Alex Coyne (Naperville, Ill.) who collected 47 assists, hit .316 with 54 kills to 18 errors while the Panthers managed to post a .269 attack percentage with 51 kills and 19 errors.

"It was obviously nice to pick up a win at home in front of our crowd," said
Doug Burchett who was serving as the Stars' head coach in the absence of head coach Dan Ames. "I would have liked for us to have played a little cleaner and to get in more of a rhythm offensively, but glad we took care of business down the stretch in the fourth set."

Dominican's
Luke Spicer (St. Charles, Ill.) led the Stars with 18 kills on 35 swings while committing just five errors in the winning effort. The sophomore added an ace and four block assists to total 21 points and rounded out his first double-double of the season with 11 digs. Junior
Jeremy Royko (Naperville, Ill.) picked up his 500
th career kill, collecting 14 kills for the match on 35 attempts while
Mason Solbrig (Lindenhurst, Ill.) finished with 10.5 total points with eight kills, two assisted blocks and one ace.

Defensively,
Brooks Nevrly (Downers Grove, Ill.) collected double-digit digs for the eighth time this season and sixth straight match with ten digs.

For the Panthers, Daniel Bilinski led the attack with 16 kills while Johnny Milabu and Nicolas Bilinski knocked down 13 and 12 kills respectively while setter Tanner Smith dished out 41 assists.

"Something we talk about is playing at our potential," continued Burchett. "We saw that at times this afternoon but not consistent enough. I'm hoping the boys can control our side of the net more efficiently tomorrow."

Dominican will go for a team-record sixth consecutive win on Sunday afternoon when the Fontbonne University Griffins visit the Stars' Igini Sports Forum. The match is slated for a 12:00 p.m. start.
