The Dominican University women's volleyball team continued to navigate its way through a tough non-conference schedule, falling on Saturday to the #10 UW-Stevens Point Pointers in three sets (25-9, 25-14, 25-12) and the Gustavus Adolphus College Gusties in four sets (25-17, 20-25, 25-18, 25-16). The losses drop the Stars to 2-9 on the season with a return to Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) league play on Wednesday at Benedictine University.
"Today was a challenging day," commented
Jeanne Czipri, the Stars' head coach in her third season. "We were up against two strong programs and did not show up in any way against Stevens Point. While they are a solid team, we did not demonstrate any discipline or tenacity in that match. Against GAC we turned things around a little. The scores do not reflect the long rallies and competitive play. We played really well at times."
After hitting in the negatives against the Pointers,
Kendyl Todd and
Stephanie Cole paced the Dominican offense against the Gusties, knocking down ten kills and 14 kills respectively while
Audrey Wyse collected 31 digs on the day.
