Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Stars Split Final Day Of Crossover

The Dominican University women's volleyball team split their final two matches in the annual IIAC-NACC Crossover, topping the Coe College Kohawks in four sets (11-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-23) before falling to the Buena Vista University Beavers in five sets (22-25, 25-20, 19-25, 25-23, 15-13) to finish 1-3 in Waverly, Iowa.

"Today started really slow," said Jeanne Czipri, "but we turned things around and played some good volleyball. After our first set against Coe, we woke up and started to put some balls away and execute our game plan."

Rosalyn Wyse posted a pair of double-doubles to finish with three double-double efforts in the tournament, earning the senior an All-Tournament selection.  Wyse knocked down 14 kills in both matches and collected 19 digs against the Kohawks and 16 digs against Buena Vista.  For the tournament, Wyse averaged 2.75 kills and 3.94 digs per set.

"Roz definitely stepped up and got our offense going," said Czipri.

In the loss to the Beavers, Dominican hit .243 with three players with double-digit kill performances.  Kendyl Todd led the attack with 16 kills on 34 swings.  Wyse added her 14 while Alex Kisten finished with ten kills on 29 attack attempts.

"The final match of the tournament could have gone either way," commented Czipri. "I was pleased with the energy and aggressiveness. Our pins played well against a strong defense but Kendyl was on fire! We are anxious to keep improving and battle with Edgewood on Wednesday."

Dominican is now 4-12 overall and returns to Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) league play on Wednesday when the Edgewood College Eagles come to the Igini Sports Forum for a 7:30 p.m. match.
