The Dominican University women's basketball team managed just 11 field goals in a 56-26 loss to the Lakeland University Muskies on Saturday afternoon in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Trailing 29-20 at the half, the Stars were outscored 27-6 in the second half, shooting just 3-for-29 over the game's final 20 minutes.
"Today we showed a flash in the first half and never really got it back," said Gabby Johnson following the loss. "We held Lakeland under their scoring average but could not capitalize on the offensive end of the floor. We have to play on both ends of the floor for two halves in order for us to start picking up some wins."
Freshman
Timiya Ray led the Stars in the loss with eight points and ten rebounds.
For the Muskies, Bailey Grayvold led the effort with a game-high 23 points on 6-for-13 shooting and converting on nine of her 13 attempts from the free throw line.
Dominican, now 1-11 on the season, returns home on Wednesday to host the Aurora University Spartans. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. in the Igini Sports Forum.
