The Dominican University men's soccer team, 13-4-0 on the season, punched their ticket to the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Tournament Championship match for the 11
th time in 12 seasons, topping the visiting Benedictine University Eagles, 2-1, at West Campus Field on Tuesday afternoon in the conference tournament semifinals. For the Stars,
Corbin Voyles netted the game-winner in the 50
th minute, breaking a 1-1 tie.
"I'm proud of our guys," commented Dominican University 23
rd-year head coach Erick Baumann who has coached the Stars to 15 conference tournament championships. "That was a physical and intense tournament match today and our compete level was fantastic. We've now earned the opportunity to play in the championship game at home on Saturday."

Isaac Perez. For Vitale, the goal was the 15
th of the season for the sophomore and came on just the second shot of the match for either side.
Less than three minutes later, the Eagles leveled the score when Erik Stammer notched his 14
th goal of the season.
The score remained tied throughout the first half despite nine first half shots by the Eagles, putting five on frame including a shot by the Eagles' Carlos Gallardo that

Dominican started the second half with a flurry, winning a corner just thirty seconds into the period.
After
Denis Soldo forced Benedictine's Antonio Marti Polo to make a save in the 49
th minute, Dominican pulled back ahead when Perez collected a loose ball in the box, leaving a pass for Voyles who was making a run to the top of the 18-yard box for a one-touch on the ground to the near post that beat a diving Marti Polo.
Dominican continued to press forward before withstanding a late Benedictine push that saw the Eagles get off four shots in the final three minutes, including a shot by Nick Kapetanos in the 90
th minute that struck the crossbar.
In total, the Eagles outshot the Stars 20-11, putting eight shots on frame and forcing Martin, the Stars' freshman goalkeeper, to make six saves.
The match saw a total of 31 fouls, 19 committed by Benedictine and 12 by the Stars, and a total of ten cautions, including a red card for the Eagles and second yellow for Dominican that forced both teams to play down a man in the final four minutes.
Dominican, the two-seed in the NACC Tournament, will host the #5 MSOE Raiders who knocked out the top-seeded Concordia Wisconsin Falcons by a 3-2 score in Mequon, Wisconsin, on Tuesday. For the Stars and Raiders, the teams meet in the NACC Championship round for the fifth time and meet in the postseason for the sixth time in the last eight years. The Stars are 16-2 against the Raiders all-time but hold a slim 3-2 advantage against the Raiders in postseason play.
