The Dominican University women's basketball team fell to the MSOE Raiders on Saturday afternoon in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 73-48. The Stars managed to shoot just 31-percent in the losing effort while allowing the Raiders to convert at a 56-percent clip from the field.
Holly Denfeld scored a game-high 39 points on 17-for-19 shooting from the field for the Raiders. With Dominican trailing just 36-26 at the break, Denfeld helped the Raiders pull away in the second half, shooting a perfect 10-for-10 from the field to score 24 points after the break.
"We lacked energy today," said Gabby Johnson, the Stars' head coach, following the loss. "We were dead from the beginning. We haven't learned how to consistently get up for road games and that's the mark of a good team."
Freshman
Timiya Ray led the Stars, scoring 15 points on 6-for-10 shooting in the loss.
Lexi Hoskins added 12 points while
Claudia DeNigris finished with eight, all in the first half.
The Stars, now 8-15 on the season with just two games remaining, return to the Igini Sports Forum on Wednesday, hosting the Concordia University Chicago Cougars in a River Forest Rivalry matchup. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
