The Dominican University baseball team fell on day two of their spring trip to Fort Myers, Florida, losing a slugfest to the Alvernia College Crusaders, 15-9.  The teams combined for 32 hits with the Crusaders banging out 22 and the Stars collecting ten.
 
Colton Malich suffered the loss in his first start of the season.  The senior left-hander lasted 5.1 innings, surrendering nine runs, eight earned, on 13 hits and one walk while striking out three.  Malich left the game with the score tied 8-8 and a runner on second.  That run came around to score as did three more runs as the Crusaders opened a 12-8 lead after six and never looked back.
 
Colin Janison tallied three hits for the Stars in the losing effort while Joe Kukla went 2-for-5 with a stolen base and three runs scored in the leadoff spot for Dominican.
 
The loss drops the Stars to 1-5 on the season with one more game before Dominican's off-day in Florida on Wednesday.  Dominican will square off with the Thiel College Tomcats on Tuesday morning at Terry Park.  Live stats and live audio will be available for the contest with first pitched slated for 9:00 a.m. Eastern Time.
