The Dominican University men's volleyball team, in the midst of the best season in program history, picked up a historical win on Friday evening at the Igini Sports Forum, topping the MSOE Raiders in three sets (27-25, 26-24, 25-21) to pick up the first postseason victory in the program's four-year history.

The Stars, powered by Luke Spicer's 12 kills, hit at a .229 clip while holding the Raiders to a .179 attack percentage.

After edging the Raiders in the first set, Dominican trailed 24-19 before an MSOE serving error gave the Stars a sideout before Spicer stepped back to serve. A Spicer ace forced a Raiders' timeout at 24-21. Out of the timeout, the Raiders committed an attack error before back-to-back kills by
Ethan Klosak and
David DeMarco knotted the set at 24-24. Two more Raiders' errors gave the Stars the set and Dominican rode the momentum into the third set, clinching their spot in the conference tournament title game for the first time in program history.

Senior setter
Alex Coyne picked up 29 assists in the winning effort, using six different attackers.Â
Nick Timreck finished with eight kills on 13 swings picking up four kills in the opening set before terminating three rallies in the clinching set. The 6'6 Timreck added six total blocks as Dominican dominated at the net, posting 12.5 total blocks.

Dominican advances to the MCVL Championship on Saturday afternoon, awaiting the winner of the #6 Carthage-#15 Mount St. Joseph match later Friday evening.
