The Dominican University women's volleyball team picked up their first victory in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play on Wednesday night, posting 12 total blocks in a three-set (25-12, 25-14, 25-21) sweep of the Benedictine University Eagles in Lisle, Illinois.

Stephanie Cole led the charge at the net, collecting nine block assists while
Elin Ream added six assisted blocks of her own. The Stars effort at the net combined with 34 digs helped to force the host Eagles into 26 errors and a -.022 hitting percentage.

"We played with a sense of urgency tonight that we have been looking to find," commented Brittany Sisk, the Stars' first-year head coach following the win. "We were disciplined, and because of that we were able to execute…this is exactly the kind of volleyball we wanted to play before a very competitive weekend."

Offensively, the Stars converted at a .287 clip, Dominican's best attack percentage of the season. The Stars tallied 35 kills to just ten errors on 87 attempts en route to the win that took just one-hour and nine minutes to complete.

Anastasia Labadessa doled out 26 assists, utilizing seven different hitters, including sophomore
Amanda Ricca who tallied a match-high ten kills.

The Stars, now 4-7 on the season and 1-1 in league play, will head to Mequon, Wisconsin, on Friday to take part in the NACC/IIAC Challenge event. Dominican will square off with Luther and Wartburg colleges on Friday before battling Nebraska Wesleyan and Coe College on Saturday. Dominican then returns to NACC play next Wednesday, heading to Rockford University for a 7:00 p.m. match with the Regents.
