The Dominican University women's basketball team saw their three-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday, falling to the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons, 73-51. The loss drops the Stars to 12-11 overall and 8-10 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC).
The Stars hung around throughout the first half, trailing just 35-26 at the break, before the Falcons pulled away, outscoring the Stars 24-8 in the third quarter to put the game away.
Dominican shot just under 32-percent in the losing effort, going 21-for-66 from the field, while Concordia Wisconsin managed to convert at a 57.7-percent rate from the field.
Timiya Ray and
Alexis Hoskins both reached double-figures for Dominican, scoring 16 and 15 respectively, while the Falcons were paced by Audrey Scharmer's game-high 20 points. Brianna Wagner added 18 for Concordia Wisconsin while Arianna Liddicoat chipped in 17.
"Today was a tough loss," said Dominican's head coach Gabby Johnson. "The third quarter was a game changer. We have to be tougher in the post and finish defensive possessions. CUW came in ready to go and I hope our team realizes we are not that far from being a conference tournament team. We will focus on these last two games and build our future."
Dominican will close out the 2017-2018 campaign this week, traveling to Aurora on Tuesday before returning home for the season finale on Saturday, a matchup with the Rockford University Regents.
