Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Stars Cruise To NACC Win

The Dominican University men's volleyball team needed just 55 minutes to pick up their 18th win of the season and sixth in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC), topping the visiting Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons in three sets (25-5, 25-11, 25-14) on Wednesday night at the Igini Sports Forum.

"It was great to earn another sweep in conference play," commented Dan Pawlikowski, the Stars' first-year head coach. "I was very happy to see a focused team effort throughout the night and a lot of different individuals stepped up and played well. The hard work in practice is translating to the matches and that is a positive to see."

Pawlikowski's Stars hit .377 in the winning effort while holding the Falcons to a -.037 attack percentage, forcing 13 errors while allowing just 11 kills.  Adrian Cebula led the Stars' attack, knocking down 12 kills in his first start of the season.  Nidhin Thomas, also making his first start of the year, added 11 kills while freshman middle Troy Kates added five kills.  Sophomore setter Evan Ruffner doled out 35 assists as Dominican's attack totaled 39 kills to just 13 errors on 69 attacks.

At the serving line, Dominican amassed a season-high 17 aces, including seven for senior Zach Sinn.  Ruffner and Thomas added three aces each.

Defensively, the Stars posted four total blocks, two apiece for Patrick Bradford and Thomas, and collected 28 digs.  Thomas and Alec McKinney shared match-high honors with six digs apiece while freshman libero Bregin DeMarco finished the night with five digs.

Dominican and Concordia Wisconsin will meet again next Wednesday, this time in Mequon, Wisconsin.  The match is slated for a 7:00 p.m. start.  Dominican then returns home for the final two regular season home matches, hosting the #15 MSOE Raiders on Friday, March 30, before closing out the home slate with the seventh-ranked Benedictine University Eagles on April 4.
