Stars Drop Showdown With Cardinals

The Dominican University men's tennis team dropped a nonconference showdown with Concordia Ann Arbor, 4-5 on Saturday afternoon.

The number three doubles team of, Joshua Sapnu and Samuel Pardinas, battled to a 9-8 decision

"We were very competitive throughout the match," commented head tennis coach Troy Tonsil. "We received competitive play out of our doubles teams, including the freshman tandem of Sapnu and Pardinas who picked up a hard fought win."

Singles action saw Frank Lally, Camden Knights and Tarik Abdullah all score points for the Stars in their respective singles flights. Abdullah needed all of three sets to pick up the win, 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 at the number two singles flight. Lally won in dominating fashion in a two set match, 6-4, 6-1.

"We had a couple big wins from seniors during singles action today. Despite the defeat, we put ourselves in a position to win which is where we want to be in each match moving forward."

The Stars are now 1-3 on the season, and looking to bounce back against the Prairie Fire of Knox College on March 31 in Galesburg, IL.
