The Dominican University baseball team dropped their third Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) series of the season, falling to the Benedictine University Eagles in both ends of a doubleheader, 3-1 and 6-3, at Boomers Stadium on Tuesday.
Â
The Stars managed eight hits in the doubleheader, stranding nine runners all day and going just 3-for-23 with runners on base.
Â
"We just are not putting any pressure on the other teams offensively and cannot piece any hits together right now," commented Steve Hardman, the Stars' head coach, following the games. "We got two outings on the mound that could have been good enough to win, but we are really struggling offensively."
Â
The losses drop the Stars to 9-11 on the year and 0-6 in NACC play. Dominican will look to snap their skid on Wednesday, heading to Crestwood, Illinois, to take on the Aurora University Spartans at Standard Bank Stadium. First pitch is slated for 1:00 p.m.

Game One: Benedictine 3, Dominican 1
Â
Colin Janison went 7.1 innings on the mound in taking his third loss of the season. The senior right-hander allowed just eight hits and one walk while striking out eight to become Dominican's all-time leader in career strikeouts at 172.
Â
The Eagles broke a scoreless tie in the top of the fifth with a two-out rally. Jack Surin doubled down the left field line before Kyle Mitter blooped a single to shallow left-center for the game's first run. After a stolen base and a walk, Janison escaped further damage when he sat down Michael Chaffin on strikes.
Â
After two innings of zeros, the Eagles added to their lead in the top of the eighth, chasing Janison from the game. Jimmy McLaughlin picked up a one out single and scored two hitters later when Jack Feeley singled up the middle. After
Noah Loeffler took over on the mound, the Eagles added another run with a sacrifice fly off the bat of D.J. Dillon with the bases loaded.
Â
The Stars rallied in the last of the ninth, putting the tying run on base when
Frankie Sessa singled through the left side of the infield to load the bases.Â
Mike Piotrowski followed with a sac fly but the rally came to a halt when
Nathaniel Natividad bounced into a game-ending 6-3 double play.
Â
The Stars had just four hits in the game, three of which came in the last two innings. Sophomore
Alec Coggins roped a pinch-hit double in his lone plate appearance in the game.
Â
Game Two: Benedictine 6, Dominican 3
Â
The Stars staked freshman
George Sherman to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third, capitalizing on an Eagles' miscue in the field. After Piotrowski singled to open the frame,
Mike Buckley reached on an error. Both runners moved up a base on a ground out before Piotrowski scored on a wild pitch.Â
Joe Kukla then plated Buckley when he doubled down the third base line.
Â
Benedictine got one run back in the top of the fourth before scoring three times in the top of the fifth to take a 4-2 lead. The Eagles added an insurance run in the top of the seventh, chasing Sherman from the game after allowing five runs on nine hits over 6.1 innings of work.
Â
Another Benedictine error in the field allowed Dominican to pull within 5-3 in the bottom of the seventh, before the Eagles' bullpen pitched a pair of scoreless frames to close out the win.
Â
The Stars had just four more hits in game two, including a pair of hits for Segovia who went 2-for-4 with a double.
