The Dominican University women's basketball team cruised to a 74-38 win in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play, topping the Rockford University Regents on Thursday night at the Igini Sports Forum. The Stars limited the Regents to just 22-percent shooting from the field while nine different players scored for Dominican, paced by
Alexis Hoskins' game-high 16 points.
"Today was a bit of an up and down game for us," commented Amanda Parker, the Stars' first-year head coach. "We had some good moments and some bad. We need to be sure we stay consistent every practice, every game. However, any wins in this conference are good wins and we will take it."
Hoskins logged her fourth double-double of the season, pulling down ten rebounds, including four on the offensive end, while shooting 6-for-10 from the field.
Alisha Markley added 11 points and
Hannah Currant dropped in ten despite being limited to just 15 minutes after picking up two early fouls.
Amari Stafford and
Samantha Wessel chipped in eight points apiece while
Stephenee Huggans closed out the night with seven points.
As a team, the Stars shot 26-for-63 from the field, including 8-for-19 from three, and outrebounded the Regents 53-32, 15 offensive boards.
For Rockford, Emily Cox came off the bench, scoring a team-high 12 points in 28 minutes. Cox shot 4-for-9 from the field, including 3-for-7 from three.
