Stars Downed In NACC Championship Match

The Dominican University men's volleyball team saw their 2019 season come to an abrupt end on Saturday evening, falling in the championship round of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Tournament to the top-seeded MSOE Raiders, 3-1 (21-25, 25-19, 25-21, 25-23).  With the loss, the Stars wrap up the season 19-11 after going 13-3 in conference play.

"Congratulations to the MSOE Raiders," said Dan Pawlikowski, the Stars' head men's volleyball coach. "They played a fantastic match and made enough plays to claim the championship.  We wish them good luck as they advance to the national tournament."

"We came out with great energy and were able to earn the first set," continued Pawlikowski. "But credit to the Raiders for reversing the momentum and pulling even in the second set. The last two sets were pretty back and forth—we just came up on the wrong end of those results.  We hate to see our season end, but we are very proud of everything we achieved this year."

Ethan Klosak and Jake Sidner shared team-high honors with 12 kills apiece for the Stars while Jack McGuire dished out 40 assists.

As a team, Dominican hit .162 for the match after hitting .387 in the first set.  The Stars managed 41 kills in the match while committing 20 errors on 130 total attack attempts.

Defensively, Klosak, McGuire and Sidner all rounded out double-doubles with double-digit digs.  McGuire collected 12 while Sidner and Klosak tallied ten digs apiece.  Sophomore libero Bregin DeMarco collected a team-high 17 digs.
