RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Dominican University's women's soccer team downed Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC)-leading Concordia-Wisconsin 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.
DU was on the front foot from the opening kick, creating chances in the CUW defensive end for much of the first 20 minutes. The Stars were rewarded in the 22nd minute as
Katie Norlie found a bouncing ball in the box, assisted by
Hannah Anderson, and slotted it into the bottom-left corner to put Dominican ahead 1-0.
Dominican's defense held strong for the remainder of the half as the Stars took a 1-0 lead into the break. Norlie then scored her second of the match in the 49th minute when
Regan Coxon found her with a through ball in the box. With a two-goal advantage in hand, DU was solid in back, liming CUW to just five overall shots, on its way to a shutout victory.
Ashley Ishman earned the clean sheet, making three saves. Dominican clinched a NACC Tournament berth with the victory and is now in a three-way tie with MSOE and CUW for the regular season NACC title.
DU plays again on Tuesday, Oct. 19 at 1 p.m., taking on Wheaton in non-conference action. Live coverage will be available on dustars.com.
