Dominican Drops a Pair to Benedictine

Lisle, IL – The Dominican University baseball team squared off with the Benedictine University Eagles for the second day in a row, dropping game one 14-3 before falling in the nightcap 13-1.

Game One:

The Stars got on the board in the top of the first with a 3-spot, all with two outs as a Garrett Wano RBI single was followed by a Matt Galdi RBI double down the left-field line. The Eagles responded right away with a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame to cut the deficit to one at 3-2.

Unfortunately, that was all the scoring Dominican could muster in the game as Benedictine scored four in the third, three in the fourth, and five in the sixth to take game one 14-3.

Game Two:

The bats continued to remain cold for Dominican in game two it mustered just two hits.

Benedictine crossed the plate once in the first, second, and fourth innings before a Ryan Simak sacrifice fly brought Wano home make it a 3-1 affair in the fifth.

The Eagles erupted for a 10-spot in the sixth, on six hits, to break open the ballgame 13-1.

"We really dug ourselves a hole with getting swept by Benedictine. We need to regroup this week and get ready for this weekend," said Head Coach Steve Hardman.

The Stars will look to get back on track this Thursday when they host Loras College on Thursday, April 15th for a pair of seven-inning games starting at 2:00 p.m. at Wintrust Field.
