Forest Park, IL – The Dominican University tennis teams took the courts for the second straight day with the men's team falling to Lakeland 7-2 before the women's team dropped a 7-2 match to the Muskies.
Men's Recap:
The top doubles flight of Diego Martinez and Joshua Sapnu dropped an 8-2 match before two and three doubles each fell by 8-5 margins.
After the Stars lost the 1-singles match to come within one point of defeat as they trailed 4-0, Alexis Morales won his 6-singles flight in straight sets (6-3, 6-0) to hold off the Muskies for one more match.
Lakeland clinched the match with the next point however as Sapnu lost a tough first set 7-5 before dropping the second 6-1.
Women's Recap:
In the women's match, the 1-doubles pairing of Sharon Neiza and Julia Hochstatter battling for an 8-6 win to trail 2-1 heading to singles play.
The Stars dropped the first two singles matches to fall within one point of losing the match at 4-1 but Neiza won in straight sets (6-3, 6-1) in the top singles flight to register a 2-0 day and hold off the Muskies for one more match.
Lakeland responded by taking 4-singles to clinch the match while also taking the last two singles matches for good measure on its way to a 7-2 win.
The tennis teams return to action on Saturday, April 24th when they head to Concordia University Wisconsin for a noon match.
