Stars Drop Pair to #25 Spartans

Aurora, IL – The Dominican University softball team traveled to Aurora University for a doubleheader matchup against the #25 Spartans but couldn't get things going offensively dropping both games 12-0 and 13-1.

Game One:

The Spartans started the scoring in the bottom of the second inning to give them an early 1-0 lead. Aurora kept things going in the bottom of the third as they were able to add eight more runs to its lead to make it 9-0.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Stars couldn't slow down the Spartans as they continued to bring three more runners around the bases to secure the 12-0 victory.

Game Two:

Aurora kept its momentum going in game two, bringing three runners around the bases in the bottom of the first inning to give it the early 3-0 lead.

In the top of the second inning, Cecilia Winters-McCarthy singled down the right-field line. Winters-McCarthy advanced to second before crossing home plate off of back-to-back singles by Makayla Barnes and Kennedy Marvin to cut the Spartans lead to 3-1.

The Spartans responded loudly with five runs apiece in the bottom of the third and fourth inning to seal the 13-1 win.

The Stars return to action tomorrow Sunday, April 25th when they host Aurora in a doubleheader matchup starting at 4:00 p.m.
