Stars Put Stamp on Perfect Season with Divisional Title

River Forest, IL – The Dominican University women's soccer team put an exclamation point on a perfect 9-0 season as they cruised to a 6-1 victory over Benedictine to win the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) South Division title.

Senior Maggie McClure, the reigning NACC South Division Women's Soccer student-athlete of the week, started the scoring in the 24th minute before she set up Regan Coxon for her 10th goal of the season in the 31st minute.

The Eagles responded just before halftime however to head to the break trailing by just one.

Hannah Anderson continued her strong first season in the royal blue and white as she scored her fifth marker of the year off a feed from Coxon to extend the margin back to two, 3-1, in the 57th minute.

13 minutes later, Ashleigh Huerta netted her fifth goal of the season before Coxon recorded the hat trick with her third goal coming off a pass from senior Stephanie Martinez.

The Stars bombarded the Eagles net with 21 shots as 14 were on frame, while also earning six more corner kick opportunities (8-2) than Benedictine.

"I am very proud of this team, the commitment they made, and how their hard work paid off," said Head Coach Carlos Carrillo. "In the last couple of games, we have been playing some of our best soccer and put it all together at the right time to earn a championship."

This is the Stars' third NACC tournament championship in the last four years after winning their third straight regular-season championship.

"To our seniors: this group helped shape our program," continued Coach Carrillo. "They have built a solid foundation to sustain success and I am thankful for their contributions and love of this team. We were able to send them off in a manner most deserving, as the champions they are."
