Chicago, Ill. - The Dominican University women's soccer team fought off the Scarlett Hawks of Illinois Institute of Technology 1-0 on the road.
The first half saw no scoring as both teams' defenses held up. Although both teams had four opportunities each, none saw the back of the net.
In the second half, Dominican finally broke the scoring drought with
Natalia Lopez scoring in the 58th minute for the go ahead score. Dominican would hold the Scarlett Hawks for the remainder of the game and secure the victory.
The Stars move to 2-2-2 and 1-0 in conference play. They return to the pitch on Saturday when they travel to Lakeland to battle the Muskies.
