River Forest, Ill. - The Dominican University women's basketball team hosted the Scarlet Hawks of IIT on Wednesday night.
Results:
Illinois Institute of Technology: 85
Dominican: 83
How it Happened:
-The Stars got out to an early 15-1 lead in the opening minutes of the game.
-DU had the lead going into halftime 43-37.
-IIT came out of the half shooting and won the third quarter 19-12 from their 57% behind the arc.
-The Stars struggled to score in the second half scoring 12 points in the third and 16 in the fourth. Theyshot 38.7% from the floor.
-In overtime, it came down to who shot more free throws and that was IIT shooting 5-10 from the stripe.
-Dominican won the points in the paint battle with the score of 50-32
Shining Stars:
-Freshman K
ameron Goodman led the team with 18 points behind her 8-16 shooting from the field.
-Freshman
Toni Hayes and
Mariangely Velez both had double-doubles this evening. Hayes had 12 points and 17 rebounds, while Velez had 13 points and 11 rebounds.
-Junior
Kamryn Woods was all over the floor tonight collecting 10 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 blocks and 1 steal.
-Freshman
Payton Allen came off the bench scoring 8 points and hitting two big threes when Dominican needed them most.

What's Next:
Dominican University women's basketball team will go on the road Saturday afternoon to Wisconsin Lutheran College with tip off being at 4:15 p.m.
