River Forest, Ill. - The Dominican women's basketball team hosted Concordia Chicago on Saturday for their first NACC contest of the season.

How it Happened:
-The Stars had a strong offensive output in the first quarter mostly due to the hot shooting from freshman
Lia Saunders.
-Saunders drained 3 threes in the period and Dominican trailed 22-15 after the period.
-Dominican's offense slowed down in the second quarter as they made just 4 of 10 shots.
-DU went into halftime trailing 40-24.
-The Stars had their best quarter in the third as they outscored CUC 15-14.
-Dominican held CUC to just 11 shots in the period and went into the fourth down 54-38.
-CUC's offense came to life in the final period as they made 53 percent of their shots and finished off the Stars 81-52.
Shining Stars:
-Sophomore
Mariangely Velez came off the bench and contributed in a big way with team-highs in points and rebounds.
-Freshman
Aya Deiri did a little of everything with 12 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals.
-Saunders hot shooting got DU off to a good start and she also contributed 5 rebounds, 4 assists, a block, and a steal.
