River Forest Ill. - The Dominican University women's basketball team hosted the Alverno College Inferno in a hard-fought battle.

How it Happened:
-Dominican came out of the gate a little cold shooting 31% from the field and only scoring 12 points in the first quarter.
-The Stars came out in the second quarter shooting 40% from the field and 57% from behind the arc to put up 21 points in the second, and go into halftime with a 33-28 lead.
-In the third quarter, both teams were cold from the field. With Dominican shooting 28% and Alverno shooting 12%.
-The fourth quarter continued to be a defensive battle with both schools only putting up 21 points combined.
-The Stars turned the Inferno over 25 times which led to 17 points.
-Dominican was out rebounded 64-42, but shot 30% from behind the arc as a team.
Shining Stars:
-Freshman
Mariangely Velez led the Stars with a double-double 14 points and 12 rebounds.
-Junior
Kamryn Woods was close to a double-double finishing with 9 points and 9 rebounds.
-Junior
Mackenzie Coleman was 2-5 from behind the arc, and finished with team high 6 assists.
-Fifth-year student
Dasia Norris totaled 4 blocks and 3 steals.

Dominican University women's basketball team will be back in action Wednesday night at home against Concordia Wisconsin. Game will tip at 7:00 p.m.
