Auburndale, Fla. - The Dominican University baseball team started their spring break trip playing a double header against Husson University. 


Game 1 Results:
Dominican:13
Husson:8 

How it Happened:
-Dominican jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning off of three hits, and a little help from Husson. 
-The Eagles chipped into the Stars lead in the top of the third with two runs on four hits. 
-DU got a run back from a sacrifice fly from Sophomore CJ Kalekis. Making the score 6-2 going into the top of the fourth. 
-Dominican get the lead back to five after a solo homerun from Senior Garrett Wano for his second homerun of the year. 
-Husson responded back in the top of the fifth with two runs on three hits. 
-The Eagles take the lead in the top of the sixth with four runs on zero hits. 
-DU regains the lead and does not give it back with a single from Junior Matthew Galdi that brought in two runs. In the sixth the Stars added four more runs. 
-Both schools combined for 20 walks and 3 hit-by-pitches. 

Shining Stars:
-Senior Garrett Wano led the Stars with 2 hits and 1 homerun. 
-Sophomore CJ Kalekas had 2 RBI's and had 2 runs of his own. 
-Fifth Year Hayden Young went 4 innings with 5 strikeouts.

Game 2 Results:
Husson: 8
Dominican:3

How it Happened:
-Dominican took the lead in the top of the third from a base hit by Kalekis.
-The Eagles took the lead in the bottom of the third on 3 runs and 4 hits. 
-Husson added on to their lead in the bottom of the fourth with 5 runs and 5 hits.  
-The Stars chipped into the Eagles lead, by a ground rule double from Sophomore Ryan Schmidt. DU finished the top of the fifth by scoring 2 runs on 3 hits. 
-Dominican could not overcome two costly errors. 

Shining Stars:
-Junior Grayson Downing led the Stars with 3 hits. 
-Sophomore Ryan Schmidt had 2 RBI's.  
-Sophomore Ethan Shepherd threw three and two third innings with 4 strikeouts.
