Rosemont, Ill. - The Dominican University Softball team split the double header matchup against the visiting Spartans of Aurora University.
Game 1 Results:
Dominican: 6
Aurora: 5
How it Happened:
-The Spartans got the scoring going early in the second inning with back to back RBI singles to get off to a 3-0 lead.
-
Ryley Davis would get the Stars on the board with an RBI single to make it 3-1.
-Aurora tacked on two more in the fourth to make it 5-1.
-Later in the fifth,
Kailey Kirkwood and
Paytin Salfi would each plate a run with a combined three RBI's to make it 5-4.
-In the sixth,
Delaney McRiley hit an RBI single to knot up the game at 5-5.
-And in dramatic fashion,
Emma Woodhouse would plate
Liliana Santoyo in the seventh to give the Stars a walk-off 6-5 win.
Shining Stars:

How it Happened:
-The Spartans plated three in the first inning to create an early 3-0.
-McRiley and Kirkwood helped bring two over for the Stars to make it 3-2.
-Aurora would secure three more runs in the foruth to extend their lead to 6-2.
-In the sixth, AU would plate one to make it 7-2.
-In fighting efforts, Davis and Barnes would each single to bring three over and make it 7-5.

-Junior Makayla Darnes had 2 RBI's.

What's Next:
The Dominican University softball team moves to 25-9 (14-6) and will travel to Wisconsin Lutheran College on Thursday to take on the Warriors.
