River Forest, Illinois - The Dominican University Department of Athletics announced the addition of Tethnie Carrillo to the full-time staff.

Carrillo will join the women's basketball coaching staff as the Associate Head Women's Basketball Coach after spending the last 16 seasons as the Head Coach at Elmhurst University.

"This is a home-run hire for our program and athletic department", commented Head Coach Antonio Rivas. "Tethnie has always had my admiration and respect, to add someone with her experience and knowledge will truly help us move our program forward. I am beyond excited to get her started".
Carrillo, who left the Elmhurst as the all-time wins' leader in program history, will assist with the day-to-day operations of the women's basketball program, coordinate all recruiting, and lead offensive strategies and game planning.

"l am so excited to join the Dominican basketball program. I would like to thank Coach Rivas and the search committee for this incredible opportunity", said Carrillo. "Dominican University is an excellent academic institution and I look forward to helping our student athletes excel both in the classroom and on the court".

While at Elmhurst, Carrillo's teams qualified for the CCIW Tournament nine times in her 16 seasons as the Bluejays' head coach. Her former players garnered 24 all-conference honors, six all-region accolades, and three All-America awards.
Before taking over head coaching duties at Elmhurst, Carrillo served as an assistant coach for four seasons from 2002-2006.
While spending one season at Lake Superior State University during the 2006-2007 season, she helped guide the Lakers to an 18-9 overall record while also serving as the team's recruiting coordinator.
Carrillo also spent several years coaching at the high school level in Kansas and Missouri and is a graduate of Emporia State University. Carrillo earned a bachelor's degree in physical education and was a member of the school's NCAA Division II basketball team. She then earned a Master of Science in Education degree in physical education and coaching from Ball State University in 2005.
