Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Stars Ride Big Second Half to Victory

River Forest, Ill.- The Dominican University women's soccer team hosted Benedictine University on Wednesday.

Results:
Ben U: 0
Dominican: 2

How it Happened:
-Dominican was on the attack throughout the match.
-DU outshot Ben U 10-6 but had nothing to show for it as they remained scoreless in the first half.
-The Stars had 4 corner kick chances in the half as well, but couldn't seem to connect with anything early on.
-Dominican went into halftime tied 0-0.
-The second half was more of the same for DU except the goals came with the higher amount of shots and possession.
-Sophomore Natalia Lopez got the scoring started for the Stars as she found the back of the goal with a terrific setup from senior Sophia Bartridge.
-Just four minutes later, Dominican extended their lead as senior Alexandria Canarelli added her second goal making it two matches in a row with a score.
-The Stars' defense continued to hold tough and only allowed 5 shots on goal in the match.
-DU held on to win 2-0 and captured their second consecutive conference victory.

Shining Stars:
-Canarelli continued to impress offensively despite being known mostly for her defensive prowess. She had a goal and led the team with shots on target.
-Bartridge captained the defense while adding her team-leading third assist of the season.
-Sophomore Faith Richards continued to be rock steady in goal as she kept a clean sheet with 5 saves.

What's Next:
