Stars Make it 4 Straight Wins in Conference Play

River Forest, Ill. – The Dominican University men's soccer team hosted the Sabres of Marian University on Saturday afternoon.

  Results:
  Dominican: 1
  Marian: 0

  How it Happened:
-The Stars and Sabres would battle in the first half.  
-DU would out shoot Marian 9 to 3 in the first half. Dominican's first shot on goal did not come until the 32nd minute of the game when Senior John Cronnolly put the ball on target.
-The halftime score was 0-0.  
-The Stars got on the board in the 63rd minute of the game with 5th Year Student Oleksandr Melnyk burying his shot off a throw in. Freshman Matej Sokola and 5th Year Student Oscar Montejano both earned assists on the goal.
-DU had another opportunity when Freshman Jonathan Almaguer put a shot on target that was deflected off the keeper and stayed out of the back of the net by the crossbar.  
-Dominican would hold on for their second 1-0 victory in a row.
-The Stars would have a total of 18 shots in the match with 7 of them being on the target.  

  Shining Stars:
-5th- Year student Oleksandr Melnyk finished with 5 shots. 2 of them found the target and one of them found the back of the net.  
-Freshman Matej Sokola earned his first collegiate assist on the loan goal in the match.
-5th- Year Student Oscar Montejano collected an assist on the goal.
-Sophomore Nicolas Porada made his first start of the season and had 4 total shots 1 one of them finding the target.
-Senior John Cronnolly came off the bench this afternoon and had 5 total shots, 3 of them found the target.
-Senior Shane Marinkovich made 3 saves on the afternoon.

The Dominican University men's soccer team will travel to Madison, Wisconsin Wednesday night for a top three matchup in the NACC between the Stars and the Eagles of Edgewood College. Kick-off will be at 7:00 pm.
