Fond Du Lac, WI. – The Dominican University women's volleyball team hit the road for the first time since September 26
th and played the Sabres of Marian University on Saturday afternoon.
Results:
Dominican: 3
Marian: 1
How it Happened:
-Dominican has found their stride in conference play and it continued in the first set with the Stars winning 25-22. They collected 9 total kills in the set and was able to overcome 7 errors.
-Senior
Tanya De La Riva put the team on her back in the first set having 4 kills and 4 service aces.
-DU kept rolling into the second set winning 25-22. In this set they only collected 6 kills.
-The Stars were led by two players in this set Junior
Lola Butler who had 3 service aces in 4 serves and Senior
Mia Febles having 3 kills and a service ace.
-Dominican dropped their first set since October 5
th, losing the third set 25-20. DU had 7 kills in the set, but could not stop Marian having 17 total kills in the set.
-The Stars bounced back quickly though winning the fourth set 25-18. DU put up team high 11 kills in this set on 32 total attacks.
-Junior
Veronica Henkel got going in the set picking up 4 kills, and Senior
Melissa Schmidt had back-to-back service aces to win the match for Dominican.
Shining Stars:
-Senior
Mia Febles was all over the court this afternoon with 14 total kills and 15 total digs. This leading the team in both categories. Febles also picked up 2 service aces in the match.
-Senior
Tanya De La Riva only picked up 6 kills in the match but had 7 service aces,a dn 10 digs.
-Junior Veronica Henkl had 5 kills and 2 digs.
-Senior
Melissa Schmidt has continued her stellar play with 27 assists, 1 kill, 3 service aces and 8 digs.
-Freshman
Fabiana Pizzo had 3 service aces and 3 digs in the match.
-Junior
Lola Butler had 5 service aces and 4 blocks in the match.
-Junior
Ellery Shea led the team with 5 blocks.
-Senior
Charlotte Hain had 12 digs and 3 assists in the match.

What's Next:
The Dominican University women's volleyball team will be on the road again Tuesday night when they head to Elmhurst to face-off against the Blue Jays. First-serve will be at 7:00 pm.
