Dominican Bows Out of NACC Semifinal

River Forest, Ill. -The Dominican University men's soccer team was at home for the semifinal round of the NACC tournament and faced off against Milwaukee School of Engineering. The Stars entered the NACC tournament as the two-seed with the Raiders of MSOE as the three-seed.

 Results:
 Dominican: 0
 Milwaukee School of Engineering: 5

 How it Happened:
 -5th-year Student Zach Gamster recorded the first shot on goal for the stars in the 6th minute; however, the effort was saved.
 -MSOE would then quickly strike first still in the 6th minute off of a quick counter.
 -The Raiders would take a 2-0 lead in the 21st minute.
 -Shortly after, 5th-year Student Oscar Montejano and 5th-year Student Oleksandr Melnyk both fired shots but were unable to find the target.
-In the 28th minute, Milwaukee School of Engineering would extend their lead to 3-0.
 -The score would be 4-0 after MSOE was able to slot another one home in the 34th minute.
 -Freshman Jonathan Almaguer had an attempt on goal blocked before the first-half whistle.
-The Raiders would take the 4-0 lead into the break, leading in the shot department 11-8.
-In the 61st minute, MSOE would cushion their advantage to 5-0.
-Sophomore Nico Leon would have one final go at goal in the 89th minute, but the shot never found the target.
-MSOE would see out the clean sheet and take home the 5-0 victory.


 Shining Stars:
 -Junior Zaid Sibaai paced the Stars with 2 shots on target.
 -5th-year Student Oscar Montejano had 3 shots in the contest with 1 finding the target.
 -Junior Lewis MacPherson was credited with a shot on target.
 -Freshman Dominik Tyka made 3 saves in the defeat.

 What's Next:
With the defeat, the Dominican University Men's Soccer Team has concluded their season with a 12-5-4 overall record and finished 8-1-3 in conference play. DU went 7-2-2 on home turf in the 2024 campaign.
