Stars Drop Both Games at Augustana

Rock Island, Ill. - The Dominican University baseball team was at Augustana College for day 2 of the Augustana invite. The Stars played a double header today, with the first game against Buena Vista University for the second straight day. Followed up by the host team Augustana College. 

Game 1 Results:
Dominican: 1
Buena Vista:11

How it Happened:
-DU got on the board early with a homerun by Senior Matt Galdi. This homerun is his first of this year, and 3rd in his collegiate career. 
-The Beavers did not get on the board until the top of the third by scoring 4 runs on 3 hits.  
-Buena Vista continued to rally in the fourth scoring 3 runs on 3 hits. 
-The deficit became 9 for DU in the top of the fifth with BVU scoring 3 runs on 2 hits. 
-The Beavers got it to 10 the very next inning by scoring a run on 2 hits. 

Shining Stars:
-Senior Matt Galdi went 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored. While hitting his first homerun of the year.

How it Happened:
- The Stars went 6 up 6 down in their first two at bats. 
-Augustana got the scoring going with 2 runs on 2 hits in the bottom of the 2nd inning. 
- The Vikings got 4 more runs in the third on 2 hits. 
- AC added a run on no hits in the 4th. 
-Dominican got on the board in the top of the 6th inning with Senior Matt Galdi hitting an RBI single. Sophomore Niko Krecu brought in the second run on a fielders choice. 
-Augustana answered back though in the bottom half of the 6th by scoring a run on no hits. 
-The Stars were able to scratch a run across the board in the 7th with Senior Anthony Nalbono reaching on a fielders choice. 
-The Vikings were not done though scoring 5 runs on 3 hits in the bottom of the 7th inning. 

Shining Stars:
-Senior Matt Galdi went 1 for 3 with an RBI
-Freshman Ty Phillips we1 for 3 with a run scored. 
-Sophomore Niko Krecu brought in a run on a fielders choice for DU.

What's Next:
The Dominican University baseball team will be back in action next Saturday March 23rd. When the Stars will host the Falcons of Concordia Wisconsin for the home opener. This will be a double header, with the first game being 7 innings and the second game being 9. As long as the first game does not go into extra innings. This is how all NACC games will work for the season. First pitch between the Stars and Falcons will be at 12:00 p.m.
