De Pere, Wis. - The Dominican University baseball team traveled to St. Norbert College for a doubleheader against the Green Knights Saturday afternoon.
Game 1 Results:
Dominican: 3
St. Norbert: 5
How it Happened:
-Neither team crossed the plate until the top of the third inning. This is when Dominican got on the board with Sophomore
Zach Helein hit an RBI single.
-The Green Knights tied up the game in the 4th on a run and two hits.
-St.Norbert took the lead in the 5th scoring 2 runs on a hit.
-DU was able to tie the ball game up right after. The first run coming off the bat of Senior
Anthony Nalbono. Senior
Gabe McCall followed it up with a sacrifice fly to right field.
-SNC did not allow the tie to last long scoring 2 runs on 2 hits in the bottom half of the inning.
Shining Stars:

Zach Helein went 2 for 4 with an RBI
-Freshman
Quinton Schwartz went 2 for 4
-Senior
Matt Galdi went 1 for 2 with 2 walks, and a run.

Dominican: 15

How it Happened:
- Senior
Matt Galdi started off the scoring with an RBI double in the top of the first. DU was not done there with Sophomore
Niko Krecu brought in an RBI by grounding out to second base, and the final run was delivered with an RBI double by Freshman
Quinton Schwartz.
- The Stars kept it up with Sophomore
Zach Helein driving in a run on a single.
-St. Norbert got on the board in the bottom of the 4th with a run on a hit.
-Krecu brought in his second run of the game on a sacrifice fly to right field.
-Junior
CJ Kalekas hit an RBI single in the bottom of the 7th. Bringing the Dominican lead up to 6-1.
-The Green Knights scored a run on three hits in the bottom of the 7th.
-DU put a huge number up on the board in the top of the 8th inning. The scoring got started with Senior
Peyton Arsenault hitting his first collegiate homerun. This being a 3 run shot. Helein followed it up with a bases loaded walk.
-SNC added a run to their total on a hit in the bottom of the 8th inning.
-Dominican was not sold on 10 runs though, adding 5 in the final frame. Senior
Anthony Nalbono started it off with a 2 run double. Junior
Gavin Zappe brought in his first RBI of the season on a ground ball to the shortstop. Junior
Braiden Galvin followed it up by scoring on a wild pitch. The final run of the inning came off of the bat of Helein driving in his third RBI of the game.
-The Green Knights scratched a run across the board in the 9th on a hit, but that was all.
-Dominican's bat caught fire with 24 hits in the ball game.
Shining Stars:
-Junior
CJ Kalekas went 4 for 6 with an RBI and 2 runs scored.
-Sophomore
Zach Helein went 3 for 5 with a walk, 3 RBI's and a run scored.
-Sophomore
Niko Krecu went 3 for 5 with a walk, 2 RBI's and a run scored.
-Senior
Anthony Nalbono went 3 for 5 with a walk 2 RBI's and 2 runs scored.
-Freshman
Quinton Schwartz went 3 for 5 with a walk, and RBI and 2 runs scored.
-Junior
Gavin Zappe went 3 for 6 with an RBI and 2 runs scored.
-Senior
Peyton Arsenault went 1 for 5 with a walk, 3 RBI's and 2 runs scored. His hit being a 3 run homerun.
-Freshman
Ty Phillips started the game for Dominican and threw the ball very well. Phillips went 7 inning only giving up 2 runs and picked up 2 strikeouts also.

What's Next:
The Dominican University baseball team will look to take this momentum into Tuesday afternoon when the Stars are back at Wintrust Field. DU will host the Muskies of Lakeland University for a doubleheader. First pitch of game one will be at 1:00 p.m.
