Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

DU Drops Rivalry Game at Home

River Forest, Ill. – Dominican University Women's Basketball faced-off against Concordia University Chicago for a mid-week NACC clash.

   Results:
   Dominican: 54
   Concordia Chicago: 57

   How it Happened:
   -Freshman Danielle Washington would connect from three to give the Stars an early lead.
   -Sophomore Aya Deiri would knock down a three to give DU a commanding 12-2 lead midway through the 1st quarter.  
   -CUC would battle back down the stretch in the 1st, but Dominican would maintain a 16-11 lead heading into the 2nd quarter.
   -Graduate Student Melissa Gomez would rack up 6 points throughout the 2nd.
   -Sophomore Kaitlyn Milison would lay in her first bucket of the night before the end of the 2nd. The Stars would take a 28-24 lead into halftime.
   -CUC came out of halftime strong, but back-to-back layups from Deiri would extend the DU lead to 37-30 halfway through the 3rd quarter.
   -Freshman Maya Kasuboski and Junior Kamila Gajkowska would hit a pair of triples to maintain the Star's 43-36 lead heading into the 4th.
   -Freshman Chenoa Moss would contribute a pair of layups in the span of a minute to maintain the 7-point lead for Dominican.
   -CUC would storm back throughout the 4th quarter, outscoring the Stars 13-5 in the final four minutes.
   -DU would fall by a final of 54-57. Dominican shot 34.4% from the field while scoring 30 points in the paint compared to CUC's 20.

   Shining Stars:
   -Freshman Chenoa Moss and Junior Kamila Gajkowska paced the Stars in scoring with 9 points each. Moss added 6 rebounds and a steal.
   -Graduate Student Melissa Gomez finished with 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists.
   -Freshman Danielle Washington collected 8 points and 7 rebounds.
   -Sophomore Aya Deiri totaled 7 points and 5 boards.

   Assists: Gomez (3)
   Steals: Saunders (2)
   Blocks: Saunders (1)
   Minutes: Deiri (36)

   What's Next:
   Dominican University Women's Basketball moves to 5-13 on the season and a 1-8 record in the conference. The Stars will be back at home on Saturday, February 1st to take on St. Norbert. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:15 p.m.
